Catherine Voss
IGCSE English Specialist | EAL expert
I’m a UK-qualified English teacher with over thirty years’ experience teaching English Language across KS3–KS5, with a particular focus on Cambridge qualifications.
Over that time, I’ve worked with a wide range of students, but the aim has always been consistent: to develop clarity, accuracy, and control in their writing. I support students in refining how they express ideas, strengthening their reading skills, and approaching each task with greater confidence and precision.
I have extensive experience across Cambridge IGCSE First Language English, Second Language English, and English as an Additional Language. This allows me to adapt my approach carefully — meeting students where they are, while maintaining clear expectations about what successful work looks like.
Accuracy and consistency are central to how I teach. I place particular emphasis on building secure, transferable language skills, while also helping students understand how assessment criteria are applied in practice. This means they are not only improving their English, but learning how to meet the specific demands of coursework and examinations with confidence.
Catherine's approach works especially well for:
Students preparing for Cambridge IGCSE English as a Second or Additional Language
Students seeking clear, structured support in developing their written and spoken English
Students looking to build accuracy, confidence, and fluency in their use of English
Students who benefit from a calm, supportive approach and steady, consistent progress
All students are supported at their individual starting point,
with lessons adapted to their needs and goals.
