The Rhetoric Programme
Developing clear, effective written responses through feedback, modelling, and refinement.

The Programme
This programme supports students who are ready to refine their writing and improve quality through regular, structured feedback.

The Rhetoric Programme is designed for students who would benefit from more detailed guidance, feedback, and refinement in their English work. It focuses on how ideas are shaped, developed, and communicated clearly in both reading and writing.

Sessions are structured and purposeful, with an emphasis on producing high-quality written responses. Students are supported in learning how to organise ideas effectively, select and integrate evidence, and express themselves with clarity and control. The aim is to help students understand what effective responses look like and how to achieve them independently.

This programme suits students who are ready to engage with regular written feedback, who want to improve the quality and consistency of their written work, or who benefit from structured guidance in refining responses over time.
What the Rhetoric Programme focuses on

While sessions remain individualised, the Rhetoric Programme typically supports:

-
Developing clear and well-structured written responses
-
Using evidence effectively and explaining ideas
-
Refining tone, register, and written expression
-
Applying feedback to improve future work
-
Building consistency and independence in producing high-quality written responses
What the Rhetoric Programme is designed to support
This programme is designed to develop greater control and precision in students’ written responses. Over time, this may include:

-
producing more focused, well-structured exam and coursework responses
-
selecting and integrating evidence more effectively
-
explaining ideas with greater clarity and accuracy
-
responding constructively to feedback rather than repeating the same errors
-
writing with increased consistency across tasks and assessments
The emphasis is on sustained improvement through refinement, not quick fixes.
How Sessions Work
Weekly written work and feedback
Sessions are 1:1 and structured around clear objectives. Each week, students may complete written work which will be marked and responded to with targeted feedback. This feedback is then used to shape subsequent lessons and refine future responses.

Modelling, redrafting, and application
Lessons include modelling, discussion, and opportunities to improve written work through redrafting. Students are supported in learning how to apply feedback independently, rather than relying on repeated correction.

Ongoing refinement
The Rhetoric Programme is designed to run on an ongoing basis, supporting sustained improvement through regular feedback and guided refinement.
Is this the right programme?
The Rhetoric Programme is ideal for students who benefit from detailed feedback, regular written practice, and structured guidance in refining their English work. It is not a confidence-building programme in the same sense as Foundation, and it is not intended as short-term exam cramming.

If you are unsure whether this programme is the right fit, we are happy to advise before booking.
