Katherine Oddy
IGCSE English Specialist | Examiner-informed tuition
I’m a UK-qualified English teacher specialising in Cambridge IGCSE English, and for the past six years I’ve worked closely with students across KS3–KS5.
What matters to me is not just improving writing, but helping students understand how to think: how to structure ideas, control their responses, and approach each task with clarity and purpose. The goal is always the same: confident, precise writing that meets the demands of high-stakes assessment.
Alongside teaching, I’ve held senior curriculum responsibilities, including assessment design, coursework moderation, and tracking student progress. That experience shapes how I work now; each lesson is structured, purposeful, and aligned with clear outcomes.
I also work as an IGCSE First Language English examiner and external coursework moderator. That means I see, in real terms, what moves a response up a band, and where marks are often lost. My feedback is always focused on that: what’s working, what isn’t yet, and what needs to shift to secure higher-level performance.
Katherine's approach works especially well for:
Students preparing for Cambridge IGCSE or A Level English
Students looking for clear, structured guidance in coursework or exam technique
Students who want to develop greater control and confidence in their writing
Students who are ready to engage thoughtfully with feedback and make steady progress
All students are supported at their individual starting point,
with lessons adapted to their needs and goals.
